Love it or hate it—you might soon not be able to ignore this at all. Even after all those extreme reactions, we know that iPhone X’s notch gathered, more & more cellphone brands only seem to be adopting a similar design. Latest smartphone giant to join the party has done something like that is none other than OnePlus which might have just introduced their very first notch phone with upcoming OnePlus 6. XDA Developers recently reported that new OxygenOS firmware denotes OnePlus 6 might be coming with an iPhone-X like notch.
The highly awaited OnePlus 6 was recently leaked in one of the live images on Chinese social media website, Weibo. Even the photos were taken down within a few minutes, they were up for enough time for users to copy & repost them. If these leaked images are anything to go by, this phone surely looks like something OnePlus has never tried before, especially in terms of its design. Back side of the device comes with a glossy finish with a changed dual-camera setup which is now placed vertically, similar to the ones found on iPhone X but at the centre of the rear panel. However, the most striking feature of the design is on the front side—its notch. The alleged OnePlus 6 has its camera and sensors housed in a notch on top of the screen, a notch that is much narrower than the one found on the iPhone X. Apart from the design, the images also hint at specs such as 6GB RAM, 64GB inbuilt storage, and Android 8.1 Oreo.
While OnePlus’ CEO Pete Lau had earlier confirmed that the phone will run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845, a fresh set of leaks shed light on to other specs as well. Screenshots obtained by AndroidCentral from a close source have revealed not only a lightning fast phone but also a bigger screen. The publication noted the status bar in these screenshots which aligns the information on the extreme right and left, leaving the middle empty, further fuelling the possibilities of a notch on the phone. Additionally, the aspect ratio of the screenshots is 19:9 — which is effectively 18:9 with a little extra space up top for the notch.
While the users continue to still be in love with the OnePlus 5T, early leaks of the OnePlus 6 have surely got us pumped up and expectations are sky high. OnePlus 6 is slated to launch in June 2018.
